Design Approach
This 49-unit affordable senior housing building, located in a quiet, residential district of Oakland - adjacent to Dimond Park - was thoughtfully renovated inside and out. This is particularly evident on the main level. A gracious new entry ramp leads to a welcoming new lobby with adjoining management offices. Just off the lobby, a new, larger community room invites residents in and is better connected to a bucolic courtyard beyond, where residents can enjoy nature outdoors along a creek, under towering redwood trees, while being steps from home in the heart of the city.
Extensive renovation on the interior included work in every unit, upgraded structural and mechanical systems, and new finishes throughout. On the exterior, new windows, paint and roofing with a new solar PV system enhance the look, efficiency and resiliency of the building for years to come.
